Drips Bakery Cafe @ Tiong Bahru

Dec 2023. I loved the bright facade in the otherwise sleepy Tiong Bahru neighbourhood on a Sat evening. We ordered lavender yuzu hojicha, hot peach senja and iced honey yuzu. The macadamia tart slice was something new and it topped with so many nuts. It passed the hospitality test by offering me a sample of Japanese plum whiskey. 5 stars.

Quaint and nice atmosphere, quite spacious too, perfect for a good chat with friends. A large variety of beautiful tarts, we got the hazelnut which was nice and I especially enjoyed the cookie crumbs base. I got the earl grey yuzu tea which tasted very refreshing as well :) Overall nice option for an afternoon tea, excited to try other tarts.

I don’t know what happened but yesterday I got the Cinnamon Pear Tart as I always have, and it was the worst tart from Drips I’ve ever eaten. I had to spit out the seeds of the pear 3 times, which I never had to do before. I’d been a loyal customer for 10 years and I can’t even count how many of my friends I’d converted to Drips lovers too. But yesterday the pear pieces were sliced to 1/3 of their usual sizes, and every slice had huge seeds. It’s like they weren’t even caramelised at all and they were tough instead of crunchy. The tart crust lacked flavour and its usual distinctive brown. I’m sorry I had to write this review but considering the fact that the prices have also been increasing over the years, I would not have expected such a huge drop in standard.

Came in to relax after walking around the Tiong Bahru market. Shared a blueberry cheesecake tart and I ordered myself the dirty matcha latte. The tart was visually appealing and a wonderful treat. The cheesecake wasn’t too sweet which was lovely as often they can end up cloyingly so. I mixed it together before drinking but given it was my first time having it; I was fascinated by the layers. The matcha flavour still comes through with the coffee which is impressive. There are jellies inside as well which was the most surprising.

I have been to this cafe many times before, but yesterday I had a very very good experience ❤️ They just newly opened back their kitchen, hence now, they have more seats plus they just decorated the place! And i really love the christmas vibes this cafe is giving! Really felt that christmas is just right around the corner. Love their new cocktails, food, ambiance plus excellent service from staff! They were very attentive. Can’t wait to visit again soon! ☺️

The recently renovated Drips bakery bistro doused their fame on serving tarts, ranging from sweets to savory tarts which gives local residents or any wandering travelers a chance to enjoy these delightful treats. Located in the artful neighborhood of Tiong Bahru, this cafe not only offers a splendid selection of tarts but also robust selections of puff pastries. Coffee selections are the usual suspects choices of whites and black coffee. Their roast coffee beans are medium bodied that encompasses a balanced finishing for anyone daily caffeine consumption. A perfect companion for any coffee drinkers would be their, Yuzu Tart, that comes highly recommended. The delightful taste of fresh yuzu creme over the soft custard tart bring a right balance of velvety richness and fresh sweetness. Unfortunately, their Apple Crumble Tart didn’t work so well for me, as the crust might be a tad too hard however the apple fillings were on point and good. Seating area within the cafe is spacious and comfortable. Cooling air conditioning is a huge plus factor against the hot humid climate of Singapore. A great place to meet friends or for cafe hoppers to explore. Definitely a worthwhile visit if you are into pastries, especially tarts. Lovely service staffs and looking forward to try their other pastries.
